The person behind the practice
Rachel Wakaluk, CYW, BSW, RSW
Hi, I’m Rachel! I’m a Registered Social Worker with over 10 years of experience working with adults in community mental health and addiction treatment programs who are navigating self-esteem challenges, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, addiction and/or patterns of people-pleasing and perfectionism. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable and self-aware (maybe even “too self-aware”), yet still feel stuck in cycles of overwhelm, self-criticism or disconnection from themselves.
My approach is integrative and somatic, meaning we not only work with thoughts and emotions, but also with the body and nervous system. I draw from evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT and ACT, while also incorporating body-based and experiential practices that help build regulation. Rather than pushing for change (which often exacerbates the very symptoms we’re seeking relief from), we focus on creating safety, curiosity and capacity—so that lasting change can happen more organically.
I believe many symptoms are not signs of something “wrong,” but adaptations that once served a purpose. Together, we gently explore these patterns, honour their role, and work toward new ways of relating to yourself that feel more supportive and aligned. Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and paced to meet you where you are.
Above all, my goal is to help you feel more connected to yourself, more grounded in your body and more able to respond to life with clarity, flexibility and self-trust.
Outside of my work, I’m someone who loves cooking nutritious meals, watercolour painting, being in nature and trying out a new workout class.
